TOM COHEN brings a wealth of “real life” experience, which enables him to relate to litigants in a way that few arbitrators or mediators can. His experience as a pro tem judge in San Francisco Superior Court and Marin Small Claims Court and as a FINRA arbitrator has taught him the value of making and explaining decisions to the parties.
His practice has included entertainment, real estate, intellectual property, personal injury, contract and business dissolution matters. Tom has appeared in both federal and state courts, where he is experienced in complex civil litigation and class actions.
While Tom has tried his share of high profile cases, which have resulted in large settlements and published opinions, his skill as an arbitrator and mediator stems from many factors.
As an entrepreneur, Tom acquired several traits which help him focus on problem solving instead of protracted litigation. Those traits include: perseverance, optimism, a sense of humor, steadiness, and integrity.
Tom has served as a court appointed mediator or arbitrator for the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California and the Superior Courts of San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo, Solano, Contra Costa and Alameda as well as the Arts Arbitration and Mediation Services of the California Lawyers for the Arts. Parties have appreciated his demeanor, hard work, wisdom, and most of all, results.
